My Sickle is Getting Dull, I Think...

On the way in to work today, I was thinking about the verse in D&C 31 (vs 5) that says, “Therefore, thrust in your sickle with all your soul, and your sins are forgiven you, and you shall be laden with sheaves upon your back, for the laborer is worthy of his hire. Wherefore, your family shall live.”

Well, that’s wonderful and well and good, but do you ever have days when you feel like, as a laborer, you’re NOT worthy of your hire? I mean, we’re supposed to serve the Lord with all our Heart, Might, Mind, and Strength, but sometimes I feel like I’m just not giving even close to 100%. And that doesn’t even count the mistakes.

Anyway…

I’m feeling a bit tired and mopey today…

  1. I know exactly what you mean, Mark.

I was having these feelings a month ago or so, and got "back to work," so to speak.... but probably already need to get "back to work" again!

  2. And I keep thinking about the blessings of working hard for the Lord. Things like, "Your sins are forviven you", and, "Your family will live", and I think that I could use both of those a lot right now...

  3. I think everyone feels like this from time to time. I think to myself, "just get through the day, the assignment, the whatever..." I think the test isn't that I feel those ways, but what do I do about it? I made a promise to myself when I was about 10 that no matter how I felt, I would at least still go and do 'something'. This has helped me stay active when in reality, I wanted nothing more than to sit on a beach and pretend I was Buddist.

  4. Mark,

I wish I could convay how much respect and admiration I have for you and Jodi. You both go above and beyond in all things.

Its amazing. I always have good intentions (like bringing things to the yard sale) and I never make it. I also use my business as an excuse to not even keep up, let alone, get ahead.

Just know this, the difference you have made in the lives of your peers, in remarkable. And that is just the "little" part that I know about you!

    Keep the faith!

    Lis
