MoTab Rocks

There was some really cool things said in the Sunday morning conference session. I was really impressed. I’ll blog about them, for sure.

But that crowning moment for me was listening to the choir sing “How Firm a Foundation”.

As our own ward choir director, we did it (straight from the hymn book) about a month ago. It’s long been one of my favorite hymns. I thought our choir did a great job. This song is one that carries me through my trials more than any other.

The Tab choir did the third verse a capella, and the harmonies were glorious!

"Fear not I am with thee, O be not dismayed

For I am thy god and will still give the aid

I'll strengthen thee help thee and cause thee to stand

Upheld by my righteous omnipotent hand."

Wow. What a sound, and what power. Then they sang the last verse in unison, with only the organ providing the harmonies. It just filled my soul, my eyes, and gave me chills. Especially the last verse:

“That soul that on Jesus hath leaned for repose

I will not, I cannot desert to his foes

That soul though all hell should endeavor to shake

I’ll never no never no never forsake”

They rock!

  1. I have to agree, it's my most favorite Sunday tradition to listen to the Spoken Word.

    Thank you for this post.

I often listen to the CD- "Then Sing's My Soul"- it helps me find that every evasive peace.

I've given you an award- You'll have to come pick it up.

  2. The song that has helped me most the last few months of my husband's illness is "Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing". The words are not as powerful as "How Firm a Foundation", but the tune is moving. Guess that doesn't make sense, but it pulls me thru.

    i enjoy your blog.

  3. Don't discount it. It's also one of my favorites. Lines like, "Here's my heart, oh, take and seal it. Seal it for thy courts above." are no less powerful, just a little more subtle!

  5. Once upon a time... I planned
to go to Utah to get instruction in order to be at the MoTab one day. A couple of missioneries tried to help me, but somehow my priorities changed and I stood home, married, and had children. However, I enjoy so much listening to the choir. Now I am a soloist soprano and one of my dreams is to sing with the Choir one day, hahaha, dreaming is for free right? I pray the Lord to keep blessing our brothers and sisters who help to make this choir so wonderful: the best all over.

  6. I hear ya. Before she died, my Mother-in-law used to try and convince me to join the Choir. What she didn't understand was that you actually have to be a good singer to do that. I'm just a hack rocker!
